March Grand Sumo Tournament 2023: Kiribayama Wins First Championship!
To commemorate Kiribayama's first championship win,
We are selling genuine gold koban coins
that capture the excitement of this year's March Tournament,
engraved in pure gold, whose value has been steadily increasing.
Produced by a Long-Established Company with Ties to Sumo
We asked Tokuriki Honten, founded in 1727 (Kyoho 12), to produce the pure gold koban coins.
This is a long-established company that began refining gold and silver at the command of the shogunate during the era of Tokugawa Yoshimune, the eighth shogun of the Edo shogunate.
Its connection to sumo is the NHK Gold Cup awarded to the championship wrestler

This championship trophy, modeled after the tall standing tray (takatsuki) from the Shōsōin in Nara Prefecture, was produced by Tokuriki Honten at the request of NHK when it began broadcasting.
These commemorative koban coins are made by the same company that produces the gold cups received by champion wrestlers.
Wouldn't they be perfect as a championship memento?
Gold is a Tangible Asset Whose Value Does Not Diminish
Beyond its connection to sumo and its craftsmanship, the intrinsic value of gold itself is, of course, a factor.
Gold is regarded as a safer tangible asset that remains strong even during major economic fluctuations, such as the recent global recession.
Tokuriki Honten, which we have commissioned for production, is a full member of the Japan Gold & Platinum Association (JGPA) and an LBMA and LPPM-approved refiner and assayer, requiring certification every three years internationally.
Please purchase with confidence.
Turn Emotions into Form
This tournament was a great success, with enthusiastic support from sumo fans across the country, including Osaka, as cheering was once again permitted.
Why not keep this excitement close to you in the form of a valuable pure gold koban coin?
